Eric Zie, Founder and Chief Research Officer

Eric holds a Masters from the London School of Economics and is a career technologist with over thirty years spent in Europe and Asia building, designing, and running digital services. In recognition of his efforts to decarbonise digital, he has been named Computing's Digital Ambassador of the Year, is World Green Technology Leader, two time Earthshot Prize nominee in the Fix our Climate category, and the recipient of the 2024 TechUK Planet Award. Eric is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and winner of Google Brain Award for the use of artificial intelligence.


Eric is the Founder of GoCodeGreen, a UK-based, independent, and global leader in ClimateTech with a mission to help decarbonise the digital world in which we all live. As part of a coalition taking digital action, GoCodeGreen is partnered with the United Nations agency for digital technology, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), standards bodies, and the World Bank. GoCodeGreen is a Gartner Cool Vendor and a certified B Corporation committed to the triple bottom line of balancing people, planet, and profit. 


Eric is the Founder, Chief Research Officer and Lead Advisor at CR&A, an independent research and advisory firm, where he fulfils his visiting professor roles at Kings College London at the Department of Informatics, the University of East Anglia (UEA) at the School of Computing Sciences, and in Digital and ICT Sustainability at the University of Suffolk, and delivers his funded research projects on AI and sustainability in collaboration with Kings College London. Eric also undertakes independent leadership advisory services for organisations on sustainable IT and digital transformation.
